Lynass,
Ferguson & Shoctor provides legal advice on incorporations;
mergers and acquisitions; corporate governance; shareholders’ rights
and agreements; banking, borrowing, lending, and secured transactions;
real estate transactions, leasing and real estate development. The
firm also undertakes security enforcement, commercial collections,
and business litigation, and advises non-profit organizations and
foundations.

Doug
Lynass has been practicing law for 25 years. He was schooled in
Edmonton, graduated from the University of Alberta in Arts (B.A.69)
and Law (LL.B. 75) and in economics at the University of Washington,
(M.A. 72). Doug has focused on business and commercial law for many
years, and has successfully represented clients before all courts
in Alberta. He is active professionally, and served as the chair
of the Real Estate section of the North Alberta branch of the Canadian
Bar Association for 1994-1996, as the chair of the Business Law
section of the North Alberta branch of the Canadian Bar Association
for 1996-1998, as the North Alberta Section Coordinator of the Canadian
Bar Association for 1997-1999, and as a membership committee co-chair
for 1999-2001. He has also served as an instructor in real estate
at the Alberta bar admission courses for the past several years,
and has prepared course materials for the mortgages part of the
real estate portion of the bar admission courses. Doug has been
a director of the West Edmonton Business Association since 1995,
and serves as its President for 1998-2001. Doug has also been a
director, officer, ice allocator and President of S.W. Edmonton
minor hockey associations over many years, including acting as President
of S.W. Zone minor hockey association of Edmonton from 1991 to 1998.
Doug is currently a director of the Edmonton Royals Jr. B hockey
club.

Richard
Ferguson has been practicing law for 24 years. He was schooled in
Saskatchewan, and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan
in Arts (B.A. 75) and Law (LL.B. 76). Richard has successfully represented
his clients before all courts in Alberta, and has broad experience
in business and commercial law. Richard is the national chairperson
of the Law Office Management section of the Canadian Bar Association
for 1997-1999, and is the chairperson of the Northern Alberta branch
of the Law Office Management section of the Canadian Bar Association
for 1995-1999. Richard has been a director of the West Edmonton Business
Association since 1995, and serves as the chairperson of the Municipal
Affairs Committee responsible for monitoring and advising on developments
at Edmonton’s City Hall. Richard has been actively involved in community
based sports groups in S.W. Edmonton, and was a director of the
Alberta Choral Federation for several years until 1998.

Marshall
Shoctor has been practicing law for 20 years. He was schooled in
Edmonton and graduated from the University of Alberta in Arts (B.A.
77) and Law (L.L.B. 80). Marshall has successfully represented clients
in all courts in Alberta, and has extensive experience in business
and commercial law. Marshall is the Past-President of the Citadel
Theatre Board of Directors, and has been a director of the Citadel
Theatre since 1986. The Citadel Theater is an internationally recognized
centre of theatrical excellence that is enhanced by its exceptional
facilities, which include the Shoctor Theatre, and is located
on Edmonton’s central municipal square.

Donald
H. Heighington, serves as counsel to the firm, and as an active
member of the firm. Don has practiced law in Edmonton for more than
30 years, after graduating in Arts (B.A. 65) and Law (L.L.B. 68)
from the University of Alberta. He and has exceptional experience
and expertise in business and commercial law, and in land development.
Don has successfully represented clients in all courts of Alberta,
and in the Supreme Court of Canada. Don provides advice and direction
to local, national and international corporations, and to individuals
requiring sophisticated knowledge and experience. Don has served
both as a director and as an officer of various active business
enterprises, and has undertaken commercial activities and projects
for various clients and investors. Don has been an active community
participant for many years, and has coached successful advanced
teams in minor hockey and soccer at different times.
